Happy New Meal

‘Het Leiger des Heils’ indicated that there will soon be no more room for a group of around 100 men and (pregnant) women homeless because the shelters are filling up quickly and the problem is becoming worse. With Christmas just having past, and colder times are coming to the importance arises to give back and use the hospitality skills that are taught at HTH. Around Christmas, the homeless get offered many meals, whereas the other months of the year and after Christmas the meals they are offered are scarce. Therefore, instead of mid-December, the homeless will be provided with the happy meal mid-January prepared with lots of love, safety and care for the new year.

Delivery

The Kessler Stichting has a SoupBus disposable to them and available to us for this project. Through these means, Happy New Meals can be distributed throughout The Hague. The bus will stop for the homeless at easily reachable spots in The Hague. By being in the open air the chances of contamination are decreased, allowing us to initiate conversations and be a listening ear for them.

This year the SoupBus handed out around 18.000 meal packages, which is approximately 50 meals per day. Next to handing out meals the bus also serves as an information centre for people that are looking for help.
